Women have achieved parity with men in Singapore. There are, however, a few areas in which this is not true. One area is the representation of women on our boards of directors, both in the public and private sectors.

Contrary to the conventional wisdom, there are many qualified women who are willing to serve on our boards. When I was chairman of NHB, I ensured that women enjoyed parity with men on its board. It can be done provided there is a commitment to do so.
