100 Champions of Change

PROFESSOR SIMON CHESTERMAN

Dean, Faculty of Law
National University of Singapore

No law school serious about excellence can ignore half the population. That’s true at all levels, including our students, faculty, and leadership. It also includes the people whom our graduates serve in the community. Women are still under-represented in government and at the highest levels of the legal profession – including legal academia.

But NUS Law offers role models such as two former deans and leading scholars in areas ranging from public law and family law to intellectual property and environmental law. They are being succeeded by a rising group of younger scholars who will increase the number of women in top positions, much to the benefit of NUS Law and the wider community.
